Aluminum Alloy Profile Extrusion Process

Aluminum alloy profile extrusion process, which is a method used to shape aluminum alloy billets into various shapes and sizes by applying pressure. The extrusion process is known for producing aluminum alloy products with high strength, lightweight properties, and corrosion resistance, making them widely used in industries such as aviation, automotive, and electronics.

The aluminum alloy profile extrusion process involves the following steps:

  1. Billet Preparation: Firstly, the aluminum alloy billets are thoroughly inspected and sorted to ensure they meet the required dimensions and quality standards. Additionally, the billets are cleaned and degreased to remove surface impurities and grease, ensuring a smooth extrusion process.

  2. Preheating: Before extrusion, the aluminum alloy billets are heated to a specific temperature to improve their plasticity and flowability. Heating can be done using methods such as gas furnaces, electric furnaces, or induction heating. The appropriate heating temperature and duration are determined based on the billet's material and extrusion requirements.

  3. Extrusion Process: On the extrusion machine, the heated aluminum alloy billet is placed into the mold, where the shape and size of the mold determine the final shape and size of the extruded aluminum alloy profile. During the extrusion process, pressure is applied to force the aluminum alloy billet out of the mold, forming the desired profile. The extrusion speed and pressure are adjusted according to the product requirements and equipment capabilities.

  4. Cooling and Straightening: The extruded aluminum alloy profile has a high temperature and needs to be rapidly cooled. Cooling methods such as water cooling, air cooling, or vibration cooling can be used. Additionally, the cooled profiles are straightened to remove any bending caused during the extrusion process.
